EDUCATION IS SERIOUS

Research indicates that primary school children require a minimum of 10 hours sleep per night in order to function at their optimum during the school day. On this basis, it would be beneficial for our learners to be in bed by 20:00 each night. It’s reported by educators that a number of learners are sleeping with their cell phones under their pillows, set to vibrate mode, and are being wakened and are waking friends at all hours of the night via sms/texting, etc. Many learners also report that they are going to

bed after 21:00. As a result, many learners are arriving

at school half asleep and are not able to function to potential. We urge parents to ensure that their children are in bed at an appropriate time and also to take cell phones away at bedtime and distribute them the next morning.

Do not assume that your child is not sending/receiving texts during the night. Learners need to attend school each day refreshed by a good night’s sleep.

FUND RAISING

The school is looking for assistance from parents regarding prizes for our Golf Day. Notices did go out informing parents of the event. Please feel free to contact Mrs Correia at the school if you are able to assist.

SPRING DAY ASSEMBLY

It will be much appreciated if every learner could bring a small posy of flowers to the school Assembly on MONDAY 31 AUGUST as part of our community outreach programme. These flowers will be delivered to local Old Age Homes after our Spring Assembly. If there are any parents who are able to assist with these deliveries please contact the office on (011) 793-7434/5. This day will also be Civvies Day and those wishing to participate in this event must please donate R5 to the Grade 7 fund. Parents must ensure that learners who participate are dressed in an acceptable, decorous fashion. There is absolutely no compulsion to participate and those who wish not to do so, must wear their school uniform on this day.

WINTER/SUMMER UNIFORM

There will be a two week transition period from 31 August to 11 September during which learners may choose to wear either the full Winter or full Summer uniform. From MONDAY 14 SEPTEMBER all learners must be dressed in the FULL SUMMER UNIFORM.

COMPULSORY SCHOOL FEES – 2015

The school fee tariff is R7 400 per learner .

Please ensure that a minimum of R5 920.00 (R740 x 8 months) has been paid by end of August in order to avoid being handed over to our debt collectors.

Payments may be made in cash, by cheque or via electronic banking. The school’s banking details are as follows: Standard Bank, Northcliff, Current Account Number 002954494, Branch Code 006305. Please use your child’s full name as reference.
