EDUCATION

Parents must encourage their children to have a positive attitude towards the school and their educators. Many parents make great personal sacrifices for their children to attend a school such as ours. Do not allow your children to take your sacrifice for granted. Make them understand that 80% of the school- going population does not have access to a school and facilities such as ours and that you expect them to make the most of every learning opportunity that’s presented to them. Insist that they take their schooling seriously.

COMPULSORY SCHOOL FEES – 2014

The school fee tariff is R6 500 per learner per year and may be paid over 10 months. Payment options are as follows:

Full payment at the beginning of the year; or three pro-rata payments payable at the end of Term 1, 2 and 3; or ten monthly instalments of R650 (beginning January with the final (10th) instalment due end of October.

Payments may be made in cash, by cheque or via electronic banking. The school’s banking details are as follows: Standard Bank, Northcliff, Current Account Number 002954494, Branch Code 006305. Please use your child’s full name as reference.

SCHOOL TIMES

School will start at 7:30 EVERYDAY.

On Wednesday and Friday school will close at 13:30 (grades 4 – 7). PUNCTUALITY in the morning is essential for all learners. THREE misdemeanours will result in a detention.

GROUP TESTS

Tuesday 12 August: Grade 4 – 7:  Maths

The Tuesday Group Test is very important as it makes up in Grade 4 – 6, 25% and in Grade 7, 60% of the term/year mark.  Learners must attend school on Tuesdays.

WINTER/SUMMER UNIFORM

There will be a two week transition period from Monday 1 September, during which learners may choose to wear either the FULL Winter or Summer uniform.  From Monday 15 September, ALL LEARNERS MUST BE DRESSED IN THE FULL SUMMER UNIFORM.  Parental co-operation in this regard will be greatly appreciated.

GRADE 6 PARENTS

Please note that all learners must have an English reading book in their school bags at all times.  We are trying to improve literacy by encouraging the children to read more.

SPORTS RESULTS

CROSS COUNTRY:  Rand Park Primary participated in a Cross Country meeting at Ruimsig yesterday.  The following athletes obtained places in the top 20 of their age groups:  Aimee Young came 14th in the U9 girl’s race, Jenna Van Niekerk came 12th in the U12 girl’s race, Ikenna Ehirim came 14th in the U13 boy’s race, Tarryn Batt came 14th and Jabulile Mbanjwa came 15th in the U13 girl’s race.

SCHOOL CODE OF CONDUCT

All learners are to abide by the provisions of the Code of Conduct and it is the parents’ responsibility to ensure compliance.  Copies of the Code are available from the school secretary.

Learners must at all times be correctly dressed in the official school and sports uniform.

PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Parents must ensure that they sign the formal Tuesday Test, Grades 4 – 7 each week.

Learners undertake to attend all classes daily and on time.

Educators must ensure that they endeavour to maintain a classroom and school atmosphere which promotes good behaviour and effective teaching and learning.
