“Be like a postage stamp, stick to one thing until you get it right” - Josh Billings

WELCOME BACK

A sincere welcome back to all staff, parents and learners for the second term. I hope that everybody had a good break and that we are all rested and inspired for the term. Learners must start working hard right from the onset as exams are just around the corner.

STAFF

A sincere welcome to Mrs L Ramsden who has been appointed in Grade 7. We sincerely hope that you are going to enjoy your stay at Rand Park Primary.

EDUCATION IS SERIOUS

You as a parent cannot and should not endeavour to protect your child from all the bumps along the road of life. They need to take responsibility for their work (or lack thereof). We have learners attending detention for homework and class work not done. If you are the parent of such a child, the detention is not enough. You need to take additional, punitive steps against your child. Similarly, please do not bring things to school that the child has left at home. The child must quickly learn that you will not fetch and carry for them. They must accept the consequences of their oversights.

PARENTS EVENING

Once again, a sincere thank you to all those parents who attended Parents Evening. If there are any problems regarding your child’s progress for the second term please
do not hesitate to make an appointment with the teacher or the school management team.

EXAMS – TERM 2

In Term 2 we do not write Cycle Test on Tuesdays. We do however write Exams towards the end of Term 2. Parents must ensure that learners do all the homework and classwork on a daily basis. Please draw up a management plan by which your child must revise the work completed weekly and even daily. Please check work and books regularly.

COMPULSORY SCHOOL FEES – 2016

The school fee tariff is R7 900 per learner per year.

Payment options are as follows:
• School fees are due and payable annually in advance at the beginning of the year.
OR
• Ten equal instalments of R790 commencing January and ending October.

Failure to pay any single instalment by due date; will result in the full amount outstanding becoming due and payable immediately.

Payments may be made in cash, by cheque or via electronic banking. The school’s banking details are as follows: Standard Bank, Northcliff, Current Account Number 002954494, Branch Code 006305. Please
use your child’s full name as reference.

CLOSING TIMES FOR TERM 2

Just a reminder to parents that due to the fact that we are writing exams in Term 2 the school will close at 13:30 every Tuesday for the Senior Phase learners (grade 4 – 7). No Cycle Tests will be written.

SCHOOL RULES

Learners must never do anything to jeopardise the fine name of the school, by word or deed.

PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Parents must ensure that they provide their child with the resources, basic equipment, learning materials needed to complete school work (both class work and home work).

LEARNER RESPONSIBILITIES

Learners undertake to be in possession of appropriate working/learning materials.

EDUCATOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Educators must ensure that they are well prepared on a daily basis to perform their educative task both within and outside the classroom situation and are in possession of the appropriate working materials.

RENOVATIONS

The school has to renovate the Foundation Phase, Admin Block and Hall in the Second Term. There is mainly exterior painting to be done and I would appreciate it if there are parents who are able to donate or assist us with the purchasing of paint at a reasonable price. Please contact Mr Niehaus at school. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.

EXTRA MURALS – TERM 2

Soccer, Rugby and Netball are the most important sporting codes in Term 2. Please encourage learners to participate as we would like to do well.
