EDUCATION IS SERIOUS

The above quote illustrated the point that parents must motivate and encourage their children to do a little more than what is required.  Going the extra mile or putting in the extra effort must become an automatic response to schoolwork (and the world at work).  Continuous improvement must be the aim of all learners and they must be strenuously supported in this by their parents.  Please keep this in mind for 2014.

TEXT BOOKS

Will not be issued to learners next year if they did not return all their books this year.  Missing/lost textbooks require a payment of R150 per book, to the school.

CHRISTMAS PAGEANT

The Christmas Pageant will take place on Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th November in the school hall, starting at 19:00.

Although there is no charge to attend the Carols By Candlelight, those who are attending are asked if possible to make a small monetary donation towards a worthy Christmas cause.

MY SCHOOL CARD

Please remember to support our business partners on a regular basis.  We have raised R42 300.54 to date. Thank you to all participating parents.

SPONSORSHIP

Would those of you wishing to make a cash sponsorship donation (to assist indigent parents/learners to pay a portion of the 2013 school fees), please ensure that you indicate clearly on the cheque, deposit slip, Internet banking or envelope, that the amount is for SPONSORSHIP (SCHOOL FEES).

We thank the following parents/businesses for their sponsorship:

Mrs G Moore and Mrs S Claase for the generous monetary donation towards our Fun Day.

DESK DIARIES/PADS

The staff would be most grateful for the donation of these items for next year.

COMPULSORY SCHOOL FEES – 2013

ALL PARENTS ARE EXPECTED TO HAVE PAID IN FULL BY THE END OF OCTOBER.  AN URGENT APPEAL IS MADE TO ALL PARENTS WHO ARE IN ARREARS TO PAY THE FEES BY THIS TIME.  ACCOUNTS IN ARREARS HAVE BEEN HANDED OVER TO OUR DEBT COLLECTION AGENCY.

Many thanks to the parents who have already paid in full.

BARGAIN BIN

Please note that for the duration of the exams the Bargain Bin will be open from 12:00 – 12:30 on Wednesdays.

CLOSING TIMES DURING EXAMS

School will close at 12:00 daily until 4th December.   Parents are requested to make transport arrangements in order for the learners to get home early and study.  Learners who are waiting for transport will not be allowed to loiter around outside the school; they will have to remain inside the school perimeter until their transport arrives.

AGM

On Wednesday 13 November we had the Annual General Meeting.  We needed a quorum of 214 parents in order to approve a number of resolutions including the budget and school fees for 2014.  We did not manage to achieve the number required for the quorum with the result that we have to return on Monday 2 December when no quorum is needed.  Please attend on Monday 2 December at 19:00.

EXPENSES

Computer related expenses R1 121, consumable stock R206, general admin purchases R741, Metro Services R20 204 and office stationery R2 428.

SCHOOL UNIFORM

Learners will be allowed to wear the badgeless jersey till the end of March.  At the beginning of April ALL learners should be wearing the new jersey.

CLEANER’S CHRISTMAS HAMPER

It is a tradition at our school that parents contribute towards a Christmas Hamper for our cleaning staff as a way of conveying to them our sincere thanks for the wonderful work they do during the course of the year.  It will be greatly appreciated if each learner could bring to school one or more non perishable items as a contribution.
