SCHOOL CLOSING TIMES ON FRIDAYS

As from 19 July 2013, the Senior Phase (Grades 4 -7) will close at 14:00.  This is due to the fact that we are writing Group Tests this Term and no Exams.  The Foundation Phase (Grades 1 – 3) will close at 13:00 as usual.

DETENTION FOR SENIOR PHASE

Due to the children writing Group Tests this term Senior Phase detention will be held from 14:00 – 15:30 on Fridays.

INTERHOUSE ATHLETICS

A big thank you to all parents who gave of their time to attend the Interhouse Athletics and to support their children.  It is greatly appreciated and a fabulous day was had by all.  The results were as follows:  1ST RAVENS 267, 2nd EAGLES 234, 3rd FALCONS 204 and 4th HAWKS 181.  The Boskruin Motors spirit cup went to FALCONS and the Best Dressed House was EAGLES.  Victor Ludorum:  Ofure Ayere, Victrix Ludorum:  Luc Marucchi.   The following new records were set:  Girls U13 80m by Megan Wright and the Reserve Boys U7 60m by Arya Gareeb.

COMPULSORY SCHOOL FEES – 2013

The school fee tariff is R5 900 per learner per year, and may be paid over 10 months.  Payment options are as follows:

Full payment at the beginning of the year; or Three pro-rata payments payable at the end of Term 1 2 and 3; or ten monthly instalments of R590 beginning January with the final (10th) instalment due end of October.

An urgent request to all parents in arrears to pay ASAP.

The Friday Group Test is very important as it makes up in Grade 4 – 6, 25% and in Grade 7, 60% of the term/year mark.  Learners must attend school on Fridays to write the weekly Group Test

Cross Country

Rand Park Primary participated in a Cross Country meeting at Heronbridge yesterday. There are now 30 schools in our league and roughly 200 children per race so our children did extremely well.  The following athletes obtained places in the top 30 of their age groups:  Tayla Whittaker came 26th in the U9 girl’s race, Liam Walters came 30th in the boys U10 race, Kyle Viede came 7th in the boys U11 race, Jabulile Mbanjwa came 14th and Taryn Batt 15th in the girls U12 race, Micah Forsythe came 14th in the girls U13 race.

40 YEARS

As the school is 40 YEARS old this year I would like to ask parents to support any initiative that we might have in order to celebrate this auspicious occasion.  The raffle is taking place this Term and books have already been distributed to learners.  Last year’s raffle was a great success and I once again ask for your support with this initiative.  Thanking you in advance.

ANNUAL SCHOOL RAFFLE

Due to the slow intake of raffle tickets this Term, it has been decided to extend the raffle.  All raffle books and money must be returned to school by Friday 2nd August. The draw will take place on the 8th August at Assembly.

ANNUAL NATIONAL ASSESSMENTS

The 2013 cycle of Annual National Assessment will be administered in all PUBLIC and designated independent schools from 10 – 13 September.  During this period all learners in Grades 1 – 6 will write nationally set tests in English and Mathematics.  The results will be used to report progress related to achieving goals set in the Action Plan 2014, towards Schooling 2025. BARGAIN BIN

If any moms are able to assist in the Bargain Bin on a Wednesday afternoon for approximately 1 hour please contact the office urgently otherwise we are going to have to close the Bargain Bin on a Wednesdays.

CIVVIES DAY

This fundraising initiative will take place on Thursday 8 August. Learners are to please contribute R5 to participate.

SCHOOL CODE OF CONDUCT

Parents must ensure that they receive regular academic reports from the school regarding their child’s progress.

When learners arrange to leave the school during school hours, they are to wait in the foyer of the Admin Block for the responsible adult to collect them.
