If you make your educational laws strict, then your criminal ones can be gentle, but if you leave youth its liberty; you will have to dig dungeons for ages.Michael Eyguen Montaigue

EDUCATION

The above quote illustrates the point that undisciplined children become undisciplined adults and this can have extremely serious consequences for society. The sooner learners learn to OBEY PARENTAL AND SCHOOL RULES, the more law abiding they will be as adults.

TALENT EVENING

This will take place on Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th September from 18:30 – 20:00. Entrance will be R10 per person due to the fact that we would like to upgrade the music room. Seats will not be allocated, but will be on a first come first served basis. Tickets can be brought from the office during both breaks from Monday 8 September.

ANNUAL NATIONAL ASSESSMENT

The 2014 cycle of Annual National Assessment will be administered in all public and designated independent schools from 16 – 19 September. During this period, all learners in Grades 1 – 6 will write nationally set tests in English and Mathematics. The results will be used to report progress related to achieving goals set in the action plan 2014, towards schooling 2025. A letter with more information was distributed this week.

SCHOOL CODE OF CONDUCT

All learners are to abide by the provisions of the Code of Conduct and it is the parents’ responsibility to ensure compliance. Copies of the Code are available from the school secretary.

PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Parents must ensure that they meet ALL their financial commitments with respect to the school.

COMPULSORY SCHOOL FEES – 2014

The school fee tariff is R6 500 per learner per year and may be paid over 10 months. Payment options are as follows:

Full payment at the beginning of the year; or three pro-rata payments payable at the end of Term 1, 2 and 3; or ten monthly instalments of R650 (beginning January with the final (10th) instalment due end of October.

Payments may be made in cash, by cheque or via electronic banking. The school’s banking details are as follows: Standard Bank, Northcliff, Current Account Number 002954494, Branch Code 006305. Please use your child’s full name as reference.

SPONSORSHIP

Would those of you wishing to make a cash sponsorship donation (to assist indigent parents/learners to pay a portion of the 2014 school fees), please ensure that you indicate clearly on the cheque, deposit slip, Internet banking or envelope, that the amount is for SPONSORSHIP (SCHOOL FEES).

We thank the following parents/ businesses for their sponsorship:

Mr & Mrs Nieuwenhuizen for the kind donation of plants for the school.

WINTER/SUMMER UNIFORM

From Monday 15 September, ALL LEARNERS MUST BE DRESSED IN THE FULL SUMMER UNIFORM. Parental co-operation in this regard will be greatly appreciated.

NEW PARKING BAYS

Sincere thanks to JRA for doing the parking bays for our school. I would however request that parents refrain from parking on the right hand side of the road in order to drop or collect children. This action jeopardises the safety of the learners because they have to run backwards and forwards across the road. Your co-operation is greatly appreciated.

SCHOOL RULES

Rough play/games are not permitted on the fields; the educator on playground duty will use his/her discretion in this regard.

LEARNER RESPONSIBILITIES

Learners undertake to protect school property.

EXTRA MURAL ACTIVITIES

ALL Extra Mural Activities will stop TODAY, unless otherwise arranged by the various stakeholders. In order to start preparing for the fourth term sporting codes Ms Michel will start with swimming fitness and Mr Niehaus will start with cricket from Grades 4 – 7, after the ANA Examinations. For further information regarding this please contact these two teachers at school. This is not compulsory.

FELLOW LEARNERS’ PROPERTY

This is an ongoing problem at the school and I am appealing to parents to have a word with their children regarding these very serious matters:

  • Learners may NOT tamper with, damage or hide away another learner’s property.
  • Learner may NOT take or use another learner’s property without permission. Each learner must have their own stationery and equipment.
  • Vandalism or meddling with another property is a serious offence.

I would really appreciate it if you could assist us in this serious matter. Thank you!

CONGRATULATIONS

To Matteo Bertuolo who received his Junior Central Gauteng colours for gymnastics.

EDUCATOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Educators must ensure that they refrain from abusive language or inflammatory actions.
