HOW PARENTS CAN HELP WITH HOMEWORK

Types of Homework

Homework typically has one or more purposes. The most common purpose is to have learners practice material already presented in class. Practice – Homework is meant to reinforce learning and help the learner master specific skills.

Preparation – Homework introduces material that will be presented in future lessons. These tasks and assignments aim to help learners learn new material better when it is covered in class.

Extention – Homework asks learners to apply skills they already have to new situations.

Integration – Homework requires the learners to apply many different skills to a single task, such as book reports, projects or perhaps creative writing. Math homework is very important at all times in order to instil the concept taught that day.
