Parenting:  “The ladder of success works just like any other ladder; very few have climbed it with their hands in their pockets.”Anon

It is essential that you have discussed your child’s Learner Report for Term 3 with your child, particularly if the results are not what you want them to be. This term is the last opportunity your child will have to improve his/her overall year mark. Where children are not doing well, parents must take a firm stance and insist on more effort – monitor homework, check their books often, ensure that classwork tasks/projects are completed and on time, ensure that Grades 4 – 7 study for the exams, etc. Above all, do not be afraid to take punitive steps should the child not comply – time is running out for 2014.

The AGM will take place on Wednesday 22 October at 19:00 in the school hall. A reminder to parents that we need a quorum of at least 15% (± 214 parents) in order to go ahead on the 22 October 2014.

Computer related expenses R2 124, sports R2 175 and toilet paper R7 936.

To Mahela Moodaly for achieving a first place at the recent SA Schools Judo Championships held in Johannesburg.

Demarcation for the exams (Grades 4 – 7) will be distributed to the learners on MONDAY 20 OCTOBER, please ensure that there is a study plan for the next three weeks. Learners must start revision soonest.

Would those of you wishing to make a cash sponsorship donation (to assist indigent parents/learners to pay a portion of the 2014 school fees), please ensure that you indicate clearly on the cheque, deposit slip, Internet banking or envelope, that the amount is for SPONSORSHIP (SCHOOL FEES).

Should you wish to receive this newsletter by e-mail, please forward your address to Please keep your e-mail address current on our system in case of emergencies.

The school fee tariff is R6 500 per learner per year and may be paid over 10 months. Payment options are as follows:

Full payment at the beginning of the year; or three pro-rata payments payable at the end of Term 1, 2 and 3; or ten monthly instalments of R650 (beginning January with the final (10th) instalment due end of October.

Payments may be made in cash, by cheque or via electronic banking. The school’s banking details are as follows: Standard Bank, Northcliff, Current Account Number 002954494, Branch Code 006305. Please use your child’s full name as reference.

As from TUESDAY 14 OCTOBER the school will close every Tuesday at 13:30 for the Senior Phase (Grade 4 – 7). This is due to the fact that we are not writing Cycle Test this term. The Grade 1s and 2s will finish at 13:00 and the Grade 3s at 13:30 as usual.

PLEASE NOTE that our annual Fun Day will take place on Saturday 1 November from 8:30 – 14:30. Entrance to the school on the day is FREE but access to the fun park will be R100 per child (if bought prior to the day) or R120 per child (if bought on the day). Wrist bands will be available from the class teacher. There will be a host of fete type stalls, food stalls, music and loads of fun to be had by all. We look forward to your support. If there are any parents who are willing to sponsor/donate any monies or food ingredients for the day (non-perishables welcome, no fresh foods) please contact the office ASAP.

Please remember to support our business partners on a regular basis. We have received R47 278.63 this year.
