EDUCATION – EXAM TIPS
- Don’t leave any questions unanswered – if you are short of time, use note form. Remember, you can only be marked on the answers you give.
- Never leave the room early – if you have time at the end, go over your work, add information (e.g. in the margin). You can’t return if you suddenly remember a fact after you have left.
- Do not spend too long on multiple choice questions – with multiple choice questions it is best to cover the answers and work out your own before looking at the choices on paper. If you can’t answer the questions come back to it later – have a guess.
- Never omit an entire question – no matter how well you answer other questions, you must leave time for all questions – a perfect answer can still only earn a certain number of marks. If you write nothing, you can’t receive any marks and have lost all your marks for a particular question. Write something – it may at least give you a few points.
- Maintain a stable energy level – eating foods such as chocolate bars before an exam might give you an energy boost to begin with but your blood sugar levels will drop within an hour and your energy will plunge dramatically, making it hard for you to concentrate.

BARGAIN BIN
A special appeal is made to parents to please donate any school/sports uniforms that no longer fit your children or that they no longer require, to the school Bargain Bin. Any donations would be much appreciated.
COMPULSORY SCHOOL FEES – 2014
The school fee tariff is R6 500 per learner per year and may be paid over 10 months. Payment options are as follows:
Full payment at the beginning of the year; or three pro-rata payments payable at the end of Term 1, 2 and 3; or ten monthly instalments of R650 (beginning January with the final (10th) instalment due end of October.
Payments may be made in cash, by cheque or via electronic banking. The school’s banking details are as follows: Standard Bank, Northcliff, Current Account Number 002954494, Branch Code 006305. Please use your child’s full name as reference.
INTERHOUSE CROSS COUNTRY
Friday 13 June, 10:00 – 12:00. A letter with the relevant information was distributed to learners today.
CLOSING TIME
The Grade 7s start exams on Wednesday 11 June but will be going home at the normal time on Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th June. During the exams, which start on Tuesday 17 June the school will close at 12:00. Grade 1 – 7 learners who are not picked up straight away will be seated in the classroom until 13:00. PLEASE ARRANGE TRANSPORT!

COMPUTER CENTRE
Grades 1 – 6: please can you provide your child with earphones for their computer lesson. Our Computer Centre now has sound for interactive learning.
EXTRA MURALS
ALL extra murals will end today unless otherwise arranged by the teacher. Parents must please ensure that learners are collected straight after school in order to go and prepare for exams. I do not want learners loitering around in the afternoon.
LEARNER RESPONSIBILITIES

CONGRATULATIONS
To Kate Collier who is going to compete at district level in the Maths Olympiad Challenge, to Cian Hoban for representing our school in the Literacy celebrations, June is the GDE’s Literacy month for 2014 and to Mahela Moodaley for his selection to represent Central Gauteng in Judo.
